I found a Edelbrock 1406 carburetor on CraigsList and I bought the intake on eBay. Still, changing the intake and carb took a lot of steps. I got it all hooked up and it fired right up. I still don't have the throttle linkage for the accelerator, but the car idled much better.
The car was missing the starter, the radiator and the battery. In addition, all of the engine wiring was unhooked. The alternator and power steering pump were laying unbolted. I installed the missing parts, hooked up the wiring the best I could and drained the fuel tank. I got 3.5 gal of the worst looking/smelling gas. After this, I turned the engine over and then added some starting fluid. It started right up without smoke. The temp gauge doesn't work. The fuel gauge kinda works and the alt gauge works good. I don't like that rusty 2 bbl carb.
